Absolutely splendid visit @ the North Yorkshire Shepherds Hut! Cosy, comfortable, clean, safe, peaceful... really ideal place to get away and relax. It's so quiet... just amazing. The Hut itself is beautifully designed, and has everything you need. Bed super comfy. Bathroom is modern, with strong hot showers. Plus Caroline is so sweet. Just book this spot and stop thinking!

Absolutely amazing little spot! Quiet and secluded, yet only a short walk away from Great Ayton. The hut itself is the cutest thing you could ever stay in - with all needs catered for. Proprietors are most friendly and welcoming.

What a great little getaway! Caroline has kitted this hut out perfectly, it has everything you need to cook, bbq and relax by a fire. Extras include seeing beautiful horses and hearing the beck trickle by. We really enjoyed our stay as did our 1 year old who's travel cot fit perfectly in the cosy hut. Thank you and see you again!

This is a real gem of a place to stay! The Hut is in a great location; really private spot overlooking fields & a small brook which encourages all sorts of wonderful bird life to enjoy with the morning sunrise. It’s just a 10 minute walk to Great Ayton with a couple of pubs and a Co-op (open until 10) and on the doorstep of some brilliant walks (we completed the 4 Tops Challenge in aid of the local Mountain Rescue whilst there). The Hut itself is perfect; compact and quaint with all the amenities you need. Super comfy bed, small wood burning stove, powerful shower. Lots of small homely touches and a quality finish make for a very relaxing stay. We loved the fire pit and toasting marshmallows too! Caroline was a superb host; very responsive prior to arrival, warm and welcoming whilst showing us the ropes, and available if needed but left us to enjoy the space. Thank you!

We had a wonderful stay in the North Yorkshire Shepherds Hut in Great Ayton. Very tranquil and peaceful! It had everything you needed and Caroline was a lovely host. Great food at the Royal Oak down the road too and breakfast 5 min down the road at Fletchers Farm. We hope to visit again!

Had a fabulous stay, to say it was clean is an understatement, it was immaculate. Private and very scenic, Caroline was the perfect host and we couldn’t fault anything. Will be certainly booking it again in the near future. If we could give 6 stars we would.

What a magical weekend my husband and I have just had. We arrived in the dark, late on Friday night but we still found the place easily from Caroline’s helpful directions, the berry laden holly branch, thoughtfully attached to the double gates at the entrance to the field, and the outside light to the hut having been left on to illuminate our footsteps as we crossed the bridge to the front door. We were delighted with the accommodation as soon as we opened the stable style door and fell in love with this gem of a place in an instant. The bottle of bubbly, chocolates and personalised birthday card were a much appreciated and generous gesture, thank you! The hut has everything you need for a really comfortable stay: ample crockery and glassware; pans and cutlery; place mats; kitchen roll; toiletries; fluffy towels...you name it. The wood burning stove and superbly snuggly bed were just the icing on the cake and made for a very cosy and restful weekend. Refreshed from a great night’s sleep, we enjoyed the walk up to Roseberry Topping through Fletchers Farm, making a note to selves to pop in there for a coffee on the way down. It was such a wet day but undeterred we soldiered on and reached the top. No view today though as the mist had descended. We completed a circular route back down, squelching happily through muddy footpaths, grateful for our walking boots and full waterproofs. The coffee at Fletchers Farm was very welcome. Back to the hut to change and freshen up before making the ten or so minute walk into Great Ayton for the afternoon special at The Royal Oak and a game or two of dominoes! Another restful evening followed and a welcome lie in on Sunday morning. Despite the forcast of more rain the sun decided to shine and so, not content with one helping, we took another hike up Roseberry Topping to see the view. It did not disappoint - you can see for miles on a clear day! Back down for bacon sandwiches and to pack up before heading to Saltburn by the Sea for the afternoon. We can’t recommend this place enough. Great accommodation and great area for a wonderfully recharging weekend. Thank you Caroline and Andrew

It was a beautiful peaceful paddock with a stream running through it. Walking distance to town and close to the moors, the Yorkshire Dales and the coast. The van is well appointed and Caroline and Andrew are very friendly and helpful.
